Three Months With Sweet McKenna

McKenna turned 3 months on August 14th!  Wow, what a quick three months it's been.  McKenna has grown so much.  This month she graduated out of a swaddle blanket to a swaddle/sleep sack and now just a plain sleep sack!  Because of this, we started dressing her in jammies a few weeks ago starting her off in a size newborn and in the last few weeks she's moved into a size 3 or 3-6 months!  She went through a huge growth spurt a few weeks ago and it was amazing how fast she changed!  McKenna literally outgrew a drawer full of newborn and 0-3 month clothes all at once!  All her 3 month clothes actually fit now and she'll grow out of those soon.  To my surprise, I had to return a few 0-3month outfits and exchanged them for 3 - 6 months which she can already wear.

About three weeks ago we moved McKenna into her room at night.  We thought this would be an easy transition because she was already napping in her crib.  That first night she woke up every hour and after that she went back to waking up somewhere between 2-4am and again three to four hours later.  Unfortunately she still hasn't broken this habit so Mommy isn't getting much sleep.  Before we moved her to the nursery, she was sleeping until 5am consistently but those days are gone for now.  Her pediatrician says we can't let her cry it out yet because of her weight.  I think she's over 10lbs now so hopefully at her 4 month check up we'll get the clear to start letting her cry it out unless she starts sleeping through the night on her own like she once was.

McKenna has become a very social baby!  She smiles at strangers consistently and loves looking at new faces.  We had to take her to the after hours pediatrician last weekend because of another eye infection due to a blocked tear duct and the entire staff fell in love with her.  McKenna sure knew how to turn on the charm.  She just smiled and talked to the nurse and pediatrician.  The pediatrician said she couldn't believe how alert that she was and that she was a smart baby.

McKenna loves to look at herself in the mirror hanging from her activity gym.  She just stares at herself if you angle it right or at her feet and the piano keys lighting up as she kicks them.  Sometimes she even prefers to sit in her bouncy seat and just talk to Deric and I instead of being cuddled.  She's at the stage where she wants to check things out but she still loves to snuggle up when she's had enough activity.

McKenna now tolerates tummy time and lifts her head for a short period of time.  I dreaded tummy time for awhile because she would cry as soon as she started.  Now for the most part, she holds her head high and actually smiles at times!  McKenna is beginning to have more control of her hands.  She now brings them to her eyes all the time which probably isn't helping the eye infections.  She also bats at certain toys on her bouncy seats.  She has even started to attempt to bring objects to her mouth but doesn't quite have the strength to get too many things to her mouth minus her fingers and a blanket!  McKenna is continuing to get better control of her neck and tolerated sitting in her bumbo seat for a few minutes.  And yes we do know about the recall, and have already ordered the safety strap!

I've included some fun pictures from this past month along with some videos.  Enjoy!

McKenna wearing real pajamas!  She was wearing a t-shirt to sleep in since she was being fully swaddled but now that her arms are out in the sleep sack she get to wear cute jammies!

A few weeks ago Deric walked by the fridge with McKenna and noticed her staring at the baby announcements we have displayed.  She couldn't stop staring at Samuel's announcement!

Working on her modeling poses already!

McKenna is constantly drooling and eating her hands!

She loves the bird mobile on her swing!

Sitting up like a big girl in her bumbo seat

Putting something other than her hands in her mouth!
