Ahh where has the time gone? McKenna will be a year old in two weeks and I'm just getting to her 11 month post! Moving halfway across the country has kept us busy. We finally got the computer set up last night and McKenna is napping so I have a few minutes to update!
This has been a big month for McKenna. She's really mobile now and getting into everything! She still isn't walking all over the place without supports but boy is she cruising on everything. She still will take a few steps by herself walking from Mommy to Daddy but other than that she's still content to walk with a pair of hands or cruise on furniture. It's amazing how strong she has gotten over the last month and how efficiently she can pull herself up on various things including Mommy's pant legs!
McKenna officially has a first word, "uh oh". Sometimes she uses it in context and she almost always imitates it well. She has started trying different consonant combinations and her new favorite is a "gwha" sound. She's also said "Mama" very clearly but hasn't seemed to understand that she's calling my name!
McKenna has finally started to play peek-a-boo. She's not really good at covering up her face but she'll try if she has something in her hands like a washcloth, picnic blanket from a toy she likes, etc. She has also figured out how to throw balls up and watch them fall down. Sometimes she just lifts her arms still holding the balls but about half the time she actually throws them.
Eating is still a favorite things on McKenna's list of things to do although you'd never know it by looking at her! She has really taken to finger foods and doesn't eat too much pureed baby food anymore. She still LOVES green peas (so glad she likes a veggie) and she's learned to really love bananas, yogurt, blueberries, black beans and rice, guacamole, and much more! I'm so thankful that she's a good eater and hope that at her 12 month checkup, we'll find that she's continued to gain weight steadily and well.
Unfortunately this month McKenna came down with her first serious cold. She ended up with her first cough, wheezing, and a double ear infection! She took her first round of oral antibiotics and by the end of the 10 days she was actually looking forward to her twice daily dose of Amoxicillin!
McKenna also got to celebrate her 1st birthday early this month so we could celebrate with family and friends in GA! I will post pics of her birthday party soon.
